Abstract
IT is said that cupric ions accelerate the autoxidation of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (dopa)1 and, on the other hand, that they combine with pterins, riboflavin, amino-acids and other organic substances to form chelate complexes2. We have therefore carried out some experiments to investigate the behaviour of metal-bound pterins and riboflavin in relation to the rate of oxidation of dihydroxyphenylalanine.
