PORE canals have been described in the cuticles of many insects and Crustacea. In the Arachnida less is known of them; but channels containing cytoplasmic filaments have been demonstrated in ticks1, and vertical striations in the ‘exocuticula’ of Tegenaria atrica2 have been described and homologized with the pore canals of insects.
