Abstract
A VERY detailed account of “Geoglossaceæ Japoniæ’ is given by Sanshi Imai in the Journal of the Faculty of Agriculture, Hokkaido Imperial University (45, Pt. 4, 155, 10 plates ; October 1941). Thirtyseven species with three varieties and thirteen forms are described. About 24 per cent are endemic, 76 per cent are common with North America (among which 24 per cent are confined to the two regions) and 51 per cent are common with Europe. The author proposes three sub-families for the Japanese Geoglossaceæ —Geoglossoideæ, Cudonioidese and Hemiglossoideæ—and all the species and forms are critically described.
