Abstract
THE dimensions of coiled chain molecules in solution can be measured by the method of light scattering developed by Debije1, Zimm, Stein and Doty2, and Zimm3. If, at the same time, the intrinsic viscosity and the molecular weight of the solute molecules are determined, an experimental relation can be established between these two quantities and molecular size, and a comparison can be made with the various theories of the viscosity of high polymer solutions.
