Abstract
DR. C. P. RUSSELL, the author of this book, who is now chief naturalist of the United States National Park Service, was for many years stationed in the Yosemite and devoted much time to research into the history of the area and of those associated with it. The book is based upon one with the same title which he wrote in 1930, and incorporates much new material which, with never-flagging zeal, he brought together during the intervening years. A foreword has been contributed by the director of the National Park Service.
