Abstract
IN a recent communication1, we presented certain experimental observations of the reflection of medium radio waves from the ionosphere. These results were interpreted as indicating that the Lorentz ‘polarizationâ correction was zero in the ionosphere. This conclusion has since been criticized by Appleton, Farmer and Ratcliffe2 (AFR), and by Booker and Berkner3 (BB). These two groups of workers advance interpretations of the experimental observations which, besides being widely different from ours, differ widely themselves.
