Abstract
INarecentanalysisofCIIItheabsolutetermvaluesofsingletsandtripletscouldbeindependentlydeterminedfromtheDseriesinbothsystems.Thedifference21S0–23P1wasobtainedas52,380±200cm.-1,whichconclusivelyprovesthatλ2297,ν43524cannotbetheintercombinationline,proposedbyBowenandMillikan.1Indeed,nosuchlinehasbeenfound,inagreementwiththeimprobabilityofachangeofsinaspectrumwithsuchsmalljseparations.
