Dr Saïd M Sebti obtained his PhD degree in 1984 from Purdue University and carried out his post-doctoral training at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT, USA, from 1984 to 1986. He joined the Pharmacology Department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and moved up the ranks to Associate Professor with tenure. In 1996, he moved to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute at the University of South Florida where he is the Director of the Drug Discovery Program and Professor of Oncology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Dr Sebti's major research interests are in the area of targeting receptor tyrosine kinase/Ras/Rho signaling for cancer drug discovery and development. He has made major contributions to the field of farnesyltransferase and geranylgeranyltransferase inhibitors and, more recently, in the area of growth factor binding molecules as anti-cancer and anti-angiogenic agents.
