GEOPHYSICS has now its ‘Lehrbuch’; at any rate, it has two-fifths of one at the moment of writing, and the remaining instalments are promised for an early date. lty that no single author can cover the whole subject has been met by obtaining the collaboration of a number of authors, and the whole is under the editorship of Prof. B. Gutenberg, whose distinguished work has already led to great advances in seismology and the study of the propagation of sound. The first two parts are by Profs. A. Born, E. A. Ansel, A. Sieberg, J. Bartels, and Gutenberg himself.
