Abstract
SIR EDWARD FRY'S letter in NATURE of November 16, and Commander Hep worth's reply in the issue of November 23, prompt me to give expression to some ideas which I have been discussing with various meteorological friends during the last few months. What I have to say will not attempt an explanation of the phenomena of the remarkable summer and autumn of this year, but it will give an indication of the direction in which, for my part, I hope to look for an explanation of those phenomena.
