Abstract
THE discussion was opened at great length by Prof. Marshall Ward, who reviewed the whole subject of teaching botany (1 to very young children and in schools, (2) as an academical study at the Universities, and (3) as a special subject for those who are in training for technical and other pursuits which require a knowledge of that branch of science—e.g., foresters, gardeners, timber merchants, &c.
