Abstract
AS it may interest our readers to know the present state of matters at the scene of the great earthquake which occurred lately at Ban-dai-san, Japan, we think it well to publish the following narrative just received by Dr. George Harley, F.R.S., in a private letter from his son, who has recently visited the locality of the sad disaster. The letter is dated December 2, 1888, from on board the Peninsular and Oriental s.s. Verona, while in the Inland Sea on its voyage back from Japan to China.
