Abstract
THE circumstances attending my own introduction to geometry lead, me to doubt whether a long course of practical geometry is the best beginning. I believe that, on the contrary, unless the demonstrative and deductive principles of the science are soon introduced to the student's notice, he is likely to acquire a distaste for the subject.
