  OBERON3 and SUPPRESSOR OF MAX2 1-LIKE proteins form a regulatory module driving phloem development

  The phloem tissue is the main transport route for sugars in plant bodies. This study reveals a nuclear protein complex consisting of SMXL5 and OBE3 to be essential for phloem development by establishing a phloem-specific chromatin conformation.

  Distinct mechanisms orchestrate the contra-polarity of IRK and KOIN, two LRR-receptor-kinases controlling root cell division

  Protein polarization coordinates many plant developmental processes. Here the authors show that IRK and KOIN, two LRR-receptor-kinases polarized to opposite sides of cells in the root meristem, rely on distinct mechanisms to achieve polarity.

  Cell kinetics of auxin transport and activity in Arabidopsis root growth and skewing

  Auxin gradients regulate plant root growth and development. Here the authors manipulate auxin synthesis in specific root cell types and use single-cell nucleus tracking and morphokinetics to map directional auxin flow in the root and quantify the kinetics of meristem skewing.

  The circadian clock rephases during lateral root organ initiation in Arabidopsis thaliana

  In Arabidopsis, lateral root emergence requires the penetration of overlying tissues by stem cells deep within the root. Voß et al. reveal that changes in auxin signalling required for this process are mediated by local rephasing of the circadian clock.
