The dynamic and expanding Glasgow Centre for Cancer Research brings together outstanding basic and clinical cancer research from the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, one of Europe’s leading Research Institutes (http://www.beatson.gla.ac.uk), and the University of Glasgow’s Division of Cancer Sciences and Molecular Pathology (http://www.glasgow.ac.uk/departments/cancersciences). The mission of the GCCR is to develop a coordinated strategy for cancer research in Glasgow and provide an outstanding environment for basic and clinical research interactions

Talented and medically-qualified, you will have completed higher training in medical oncology and obtained a Certificate of Specialist Training from the GMC, or be within three months of obtaining this. You should also have a higher degree and be able to demonstrate a track record in research as evidenced by publications in high quality journals and grant acquisition. This research may have either a laboratory or clinical focus.

Laboratory accommodation will be within newly completed buildings on the Garscube campus of Glasgow University, which benefit from state-of-the-art research facilities and a world-class research faculty. Clinical duties will be based at the new Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre at Gartnavel (http://www.beatson.org.uk). As well as being the lead centre for the delivery of non-surgical cancer care for the West of Scotland, serving a population of 2.6m, the BWSCC is also an internationally-renowned teaching centre.
