The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in scientific research and as a leading exponent in the presentation of natural history to the general public through exhibitions, public programmes and the web.
The Department of Mineralogy requires a Curator to contribute to the delivery of the new ore collections project and other mineralogy collections management projects. The role requires the input of data into ke-mu a database and the cleansing of existing records, ticketing and labeling of specimens, ensuring order and access is maintained, assisting with presentations and outreach events and facilitating the long term care and preservation of collections.
You will possess a BSc or equivalent in Geology or related topic and have a developed approach to problem solving with a methodical work philosophy. As a Curator in Mineralogy you will be able to communicate well at all levels, both verbally and in writing and be able to work well both in a team and individually, showing initiative where appropriate.
