In the version of this article initially published, in the fourth sentence of the ‘Hotspots of salt marsh change’ section, the estimate of the global loss rate of salt marsh should have read 0.28% year−1, not 0.26%. In addition, the Acknowledgements section and the Fig. 3 caption didn’t note that Maxar data were provided under the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s NextView license agreement.
