Shifting the focus from AIDS to AIWS

Facing ongoing difficulties in accessing NHS medical care and a reluctance reporting to an aviation medical examiner (AME), a 36-year-old, sexually active airline pilot attended as a dental patient with dry mouth, sore throat, and a distressingly visible swollen lymph node in the posterior cervical chain measuring 2 cm x 3 cm.

Symptoms of weight loss, fever, and strikingly, sensory disturbances and visual distortions were reported. The patient was a smoker with no admitted drug use.
