It is already 3 months since we celebrated a new year. This is a belated annual greeting from the editorial office sharing with the readers some updates and changes of the Journal of Human Genetics (JHG).

2015 was the second year of my term as the Editor-in-Chief. I was happy to see our journal steadily growing year by year. Last year, we received 15% more submissions than in the previous year. I was also pleased to see overall quality of the papers submitted to the JHG is becoming better, allowing us to be more selective in reviewing and choosing paper for publication. I am convinced that all 123 papers published in 2015 are of great quality.

In the November 2015 issue, and the January issue this year, JHG has published special collections of invited papers solicited under specific scientific themes entitled ‘Human Immune System Diversity and its Implications in Diseases’ and ‘Cardiovascular Genetics’, respectively. Both collections were received very well, having nearly 30% more visitors (than month average in 2015) to the journal website. I am grateful to the guest editors who helped to coordinate these special contents, and would like to continue publishing good collection of papers of the various topics. We are planning to do one more special section later this year.

JHG’s sister journal Human Genome Variation (HGV), in its early third year now, is also growing fast. Having indexed in PubMed recently, it should become more attractive place for authors to share gene variation reports.

I will strive further to enhance the JHG’s contents as well as quality of daily editorial operations. The journal activities and operations are made possible by the support of all Associate Editors, Editorial Board members, reviewers and of course, authors. I hereby would like to express my deep appreciation and thanks to all of them, and ask for their continued interest and support to the journal.

We look forward to receiving exciting papers from all over the world.
