Tumours and viruses in mice injected with plutonium

Abstract

THE α-particle emitting plutonium is, at present, the bone-seeking element of greatest public concern. For man, however, the best evidence of damage from α-particle emitters in bone concerns radium, for which the pattern of deposition differs from that of plutonium. We report here an experiment designed to compare the effects of plutonium in mice with those of radium, previously reported1,2.
