Effects of physical adsorption on porous interstellar grains

Abstract

SOLID grains in space are likely to be highly porous in character. Data from meteorites1, micro-meteoritic trajectories2, as well as from comets3 provide indirect evidence that Solar-System grains are porous and a similar porosity is to be expected for interstellar grains. This would have important consequences for interstellar molecular hydrogen formation, and for the expected densities of noble gases in meteorites.
