Preparation and properties of rubber dislocations

Abstract

THE purpose of this note is to describe the construction and properties of a Volterra1 edge dislocation made from two sheets of smooth rubber. A simple theoretical analysis illustrates the key features of the model and illuminates its interesting and unexpected behaviour.
