Abstract
MICE infected with lactic dehydrogenase virus (LDV) have lifelong viraemia and raised plasma enzyme levels1–4. In spite of rapid and prolonged virus replication, probably in the macrophages, only minor histological changes in lymphoid organs are reported5. Antibodies are produced6 and complexes are said to be deposited in the glomerular capillary walls but only minimal glomerulonephritis results7,8.
