Erasmus Darwin, master of many crafts

Abstract

Erasmus Darwin was famous in the eighteenth century as a physician, an inventor and a best-selling poet. Today he earns most credit for recognising biological evolution, discovering how clouds form, analysing plant nutrition and influencing the English Romantic poets.
