Lateral Heterogeneity in the Deep Mantle from Seismic Body Wave Amplitudes

Abstract

HERE we describe some seismic short-period body-wave amplitude anomalies observed in the United States. These anomalies are particularly large for ray paths which travel close to the core-mantle boundary and may provide another way of looking for anomalous structure in this region.
