Abstract
R. R. ALLEN has recently considered the depth within the Earth of the origins of the gravitational anomalies, and other studies have been reviewed in Nature1. Plainly the time has now come when enough is known about the characteristics of the geoid to make possible a definition of density variations within the Earth.
