Abstract
FOCI of infections have long been recognized as the cause of certain systemic diseases. In 1915, Rosenow studied the localization of streptococci after i.v. injection1. Subsequent studies have shown that viable streptococci and/or their metabolic products localize in nearly every organ and tissue2–6.
