X-ray Emission from Intergalactic Gas in the Neighbourhood of Galaxies

Abstract

Massive galaxies may have X-ray coronas associated with accretion of hot intergalactic gas. X-ray observations of Virgo A fit this hypothesis. Andromeda may also have an observable X-ray corona.
