Abstract
IN view of the present concern about pollution of the environment by airborne metals1, the following evidence of contamination of herbage and soils on a farm in South Wales in 1934–36 may be of interest2. The farm was situated near Clydach about 1 mile north-east of a large nickel works which also produced some copper, and was therefore subject to contamination from prevailing winds. Samples of herbage and soil were sent to the Department of Agricultural Chemistry at Aberystwyth by a veterinary surgeon who was concerned about the poor condition of livestock.
