Abstract
RECENT faulting on the Volta river, discussed recently by Nature's geomagnetism correspondent1, cannot be taken as evidence “that many of the Earth's Pre-Cambrian shield areas should now be classified as earthquake hazards” because the Volta dam does not lie in a typical shield area.
