Acoustic Doppler Measurements of Vertical Velocities in the Atmosphere

Abstract

Acoustic echo sounding techniques have been used to determine vertical velocities in the atmosphere during thermal plume activity and a nocturnal inversion. The existence of breaking wave formations within the inversion has been clearly established.
