Abstract
In vitro stimulation of lymphocytes, by either specific or non-specific mitogens, is accompanied by increased DNA synthesis1. During a study of milk sensitivity in ten patients with gastrointestinal disease (including seven with coeliac disease) it was observed that β-lactoglobulin had a mitogenic activity of the same order as phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) both in patients and in five healthy controls.
