Wordsworth and Hamilton

Abstract

The 200th anniversary of Wordsworth's birth seems to be a good time to recall one of the most interesting and best documented associations between an outstanding poet and a major scientist. The Irish mathematician Hamilton and the English poet Wordsworth were friends and correspondents for more than twenty years. Each helped to mould the ideas of the other significantly.
