Abstract
EXPERIMENTAL models for the study of anaphylaxis usually make use either of the whole animal or of isolated organs. Although such complex systems have many advantages in that they reproduce the clinical conditions, it is obvious that their complexity makes it difficult to analyse separately the various phases of the anaphylactic reaction. The use of isolated cell systems would be better suited to study, for instance, the interaction between cells, antibody and antigen.
