Homotypic and Heterotypic Interference by Defective Particles of Vesicular Stomatitis Virus

Abstract

Defective particles can serve as templates for their replication by helper infectious virus. While both the “long T” and “short T” defective particles in VSV preparations are capable of homotypic interference, only the larger “long T” particle is capable of heterotypic interference.
