Metabolic Adaptation in the Brain

Abstract

Enzyme adaptation in the brain involving substrates, hormones and neurotransmitters may participate in behavioural adaptation, consolidation in learning and central aspects of drug tolerance. This article is based on lectures given in October 1969 to the Oxford University Biochemical Society and to the Neurochemical Group of the Biochemical Society.
