Effect of Heparin on the Detection of Human Isoantigens by the Cytotoxicity Technique

Abstract

IT has been suggested that the anticoagulant heparin might block antigenic sites or otherwise interfere with the expression of antigen–antibody interaction1–6. Of particular relevance is the effect of heparin on transplantation behaviour and cytotoxicity reactions in mice7,8, and on human mixed lymphocyte cultures9. We have studied the possible influence of heparin on human isoantigen typing by the cytotoxicity technique.
