Probable Haploid Expression of HL-A Antigens on Human Spermatozoon

Abstract

ANTIGENS of the HL-A system1, which are so important in transplantation, have been demonstrated for all the nucleated cells so far investigated. Their mode of expression on the spermatozoon membrane which contains a haploid genome has remained unexplored. If the structure of the spermatozoon membrane is coded by the haploid genome, haploid expression of the HL-A antigens would be expected. The results reported here strongly support this hypothesis.
