Abstract
THE composition and physical chemical properties of the internal connective tissue of mammalian muscle have received little attention in the past, chiefly because of the difficulties of isolating intact tissue, free from muscle proteins. Consequently, comparatively little information exists about this important constituent, which accounts for 2–10 per cent of the dry weight of skeletal muscle1 and which is essential for normal muscular function.
