Motion of the Sun with respect to the Galaxies and the Kinematics of the Local Supercluster

Abstract

The directions toward which the Sun and our galaxy are moving in space change rapidly, with increasing distance of the galaxies used as a reference frame. This effect, which is a manifestation of the kinematics of the local supercluster, has an important bearing on the derivation of the Hubble constant.
