Abstract
WE have previously defined the quasi-Fermi level εq−F and the hyper-redox potential Ehyper of a molecule as follows1 where εlv and εho are the lowest vacant and the highest occupied electronic energy levels of the molecule calculated by the HMO method (Hückel approximation method)2 E½ and Emax are its polarographic half-wave reduction potential and excitation energy, and C is constant. It was found that the difference in power of spectral sensitization of the photographic process among various dyes could be explained by the values of their εq−F and .
