Fibrin Substrate free from both Plasminogen and Fibrin Stabilizing Factor

Abstract

IN biological systems, the differentiation of plasmin activity from plasminogen activator activity can only be made in a substrate free of plasminogen. Fibrin is probably the natural substrate of plasmin and almost certainly the most sensitive, but it is usually contaminated with plasminogen1. Several methods for removing plasminogen from fibrinogen have been described, but in practice these are usually tedious and not always reproducible2,3.
