Metabolism of Nuclear RNA in the Rat Kidney after Injection of Folic Acid

Abstract

WE have previously reported that a single injection of folic acid induces a response in the rat kidney which is characterized by large increases in the synthesis of both RNA and DNA1. Twenty-four hours after an injection, the RNA content of each kidney is increased by approximately 50 per cent, although at this time the increase in DNA content is very small2.
