Metabolism of Labelled Carcinogenic Hydrocarbons in Rats

Abstract

Polyuclear hydrocarbons given by stomach tube induce mammary tumours. Their absorption, distribution and excretion have been studied. Prolonged retention in ovaries and adrenals may reflect the fact that both these organs produce steroid hormones which stimulate mammary growth.
