Antagonism of Intra-arterial Acetylcholine Induced Contraction of Skeletal Muscle by Sea Snake Venom

Abstract

Marsden and Reid1 in their investigations on victims of sea snake (Enhydrina schistosa Daudin) poisoning found evidence of progressive muscular weakness and myonecrosis. Carey and Wright2, however, concluded that the venom had a neuromuscular blocking action when tested on the isolated rat phrenic nerve-diaphragm preparation.
