Abstract
IT was shown previously1 that the ability of pea stem segments to synthesize benzoylaspartate is greatly increased by pretreatment with indolyl-3-acetic acid (IAA) and that this inducing effect is suppressed by actinomycin D and by puromycin, inhibitors of ribonucleic acid2 (RNA) and protein synthesis3, respectively. In extending this work it has been found that certain animal hormones, and more surprisingly puromycin, also act as inducers of the aspartate conjugation system.
