Reaction of Glutarimide with Phosphorus Pentachloride to form Chlorinated Pyridines

Abstract

THE reaction of glutarimide with phosphorus pentachloride to give 2,3,6-trichloropyridine1 yielded a material that was found to be quite impure. The infra-red spectrum of the crude product suggested that other chlorinated pyridines were also present.
