Abstract
CHAPPEL1,2 has shown that the rate of uptake of oxygen by rat liver mitochondria, with isocitrate in the presence of malate, is greater than the sum of that observed when either substrate is present alone. Since the oxidation of both isocitrate and malate is linked to pyridine nucleotides, the composition of pyridine nucleotides during the oxidation of these substrates was measured.
