Abstract
MANY lamellar substances form interlamellar sorption complexes with polar molecules. These may be α-com-plexes, in which the molecules lie flat on the sorbent layers, or β-complexes, in which the molecules are upright with respect to the layer1. Such complexes have been examined with graphitic acid2,3, montmorillonite4, and nickel cyanide5.
