Determination of Iron-Tin Compound by X-ray Diffraction

Abstract

IN the manufacture of electrolytic tinplate, a tin coating is electrodeposited on to the surface of a steel strip and the tin is then melted: during the melting operation a layer of the intermetallic compound FeSn2 is formed at the iron-tin interface1.
